Today was our first class in 3D Digital Literacy just after our break for Easter. We had just handed in our assignment 2 for our Animation Narrative class and I was going to take this week to begin the steps in using my research, the reference photos i had gathered from online sources, my own photos and the drawings and plans I had made in order to start the creative process.
Today in the class Henry our tutor was just going over some videos he had gathered for us that would help us when finalising our work and posting it, from my previous assignments I have really enjoyed the amount of videos and helpful online tutorials that are available to use online. As they have really helped me in creating things like my Maya walking rig and helping me understand what steps are required and how to do them for my work. I also learnt through our online classes the steps of how others are creating their organic models and the different softwares we can all use. At first I assumed the only software that we could use is ‘ZBrush’ or ‘Mudbox’ that we had been getting help withi from our tutors, in class before the university was closed. Through online classes I have saw a number of peers using these softwares, including the use of Maya and it good to know we are able to use whichever software we may find much easier to use.

In order to know which software would be best for me to use i think i am going to try out each one and try a practice example and watch videos on how to use each software. Maya is probably the software which i have the most experience with as i had down many trial and erro creations with it when making my 3D model wizards staff, for the first assignmeant for our 3D literacy class. At fist I found it quite difficult to use, specially when it came to UV mapping my model. I was able to understand some tutorials and how to model near the end and had created a wizards staff I was quite proud about. Whether or not i use thish software will depend on if i find the either ‘ZBrush’ and ‘Mudbox’ too difficult to use and would rather resort back to something I am more familiar with.

Just before we spilt up before the university closed we were going through a number a number of tutorials with our tutors and ‘ZBrush’ was the software within first few minutes I felt more comfortable using. Im aware that this can change throughout using, but i think that if i get a good research of different tutorials then i will see how easily i can take to ZBrush and learn the process.
Another thing i was also happy to hear before I sing Zbrish is that our tutor Henry was that he gave other peers the advice to begin your modelling by selecting the poly mesh shape and not the other one, this information saved me from messing up my 3D model as this mistake could’ve then not allowed me to edit my model and i would have to restart the entire creation. This just means that there is a lot of research i need to do so within all softwares, research my plan so I don’t make any mistakes and have the best set up for modelling.
to use poly mesh not the other one

Mudbox is the other software that before the break we were going through tutorials in our class time and getting to know how the use each. Mudbox was simalr to Zbrush but i still felt that’s Zbrush was easier to use from them start. The only reasons i would use Mudbox is that it is the sister software to Maya and that i could have a better understanding with heir software. Again this is a process of looking through tutorials and the processes, so that i know which software is better for me to create my model within.
Within this week with all my research and work planned out, I will begin in using my redefine photos to creat my organi modelling of hopefully a sliced banana, strawberries and blue berries. I will look over some of the tutorials which our tutors have given use and from my own trial and error with my using the softwares given to us and then once I find a software I am most comfortable using, I will begin creating my model.
